Hello,
Well the rise in hashtags is outstanding. It all started with twitter and now it has spread on Facebook, Google +, Instagram, and even on Google search and almost covering everything.
Oh yes we can be searched as #sankalphk on twitter and myself as #marksidd.
What is this # symbol everywhere and why is it doing rounds now days?
Today through this blog post we would like to share some basics of using hashtag and why it is important to introduce hashtags in the online social life of your business, products and services.
Why #hashtag?
Hashtag adds meaning to your posts and communicates that whatever you’re sharing is a part of larger discussion or has meaning for a wider audience. They act as a good tool for connecting with individuals discussing a same topic, people who are like minded, people with same hobbies, interests, and even used to connect people for online events.
Do you over use #hashtag?
Hashtags do good but when used in a controlled or it would be right to say put it when u need it. For example Including 10 hashtag in a post is a suicide, and researches show it will lead to drop the engagement, so it is wise to use hashtag when needed and avoid unnecessary inclusion of hashtag. One to two hashtag are sufficient. Also overuse of hashtag may lead your business to connect with irrelevant, negative or even embarrassing topics, so be cautious with the usage of hashtags, and do your research well.
Is your #hashtag too long?
Hashtags are accepted best when they are easy to remember, thus its best to keep your hashtag short and easy to remember, in case your product, service, business or event has a long title let’s say for example Sankalp Technology Business week 2014, you can consider using, #STBW14 which is an abbreviation.
How to make use of #hashtag?
Do a thorough search for your hashtags and identify the best hashtags that you wish to include in your posts, for example if you are a travel consultant hashtags like #travel, #tour, #flights, #holiday are good for you, by including these in your post you will be in middle of the right set of audience which will be appreciated.
