Let us name the company “PQR” which is in to selling a small ERP based Solution for Retail Stores and chains. The products name is “RST” and the products are robust enough to cater to the requirements of the retailers.
The Challenge among the CEO is how to take the business to new heights and thus on a mutual discussion it was decided to introduce a new position in the organization, which will take care of all the marketing related initiative for this new ERP product and other products and services offered by the company.
It was decided that after a month there will be a meeting wherein the CEO, CFO and the CMO will participate to discuss the thought process of the CMO and to see the path ahead for the new ERP solution.
The fate full day came and the strategic meeting started.
CMO: Hi, in last one month has collected some insights for the current business development process and I am surprised to see that we are not at all using the power of online marketing.
The CFO jumped in a commanding manner.
CFO: No we tried it for 3 months but the output was pathetic we didn’t get any Returns on our investment; you must check your data with smith (the VP-Sales)
CMO: Yes I have checked it with smith and now you will be amazed on what I am going tell you.
Companies Current total investment on Traditional Marketing and sales activities like sales people, print media, conferences, events, etc are 40 Lac in a year and the revenue which we are generating against it is 2.2 Crs and with realistic Net Margin we have 20% margin (Excluding all costs) on it which makes it 4 lacs which is just a 1o% Return on your investment.
CEO: Yes you are right, but do you suggest to increase the ROI is what we are more interested to hear.
CMO: Sure I have a plan which will work; we will be introducing a good Web development company in India which will redesign our corporate web site and include to option for online purchase of different products. It will cost us somewhere close to 3.5 lac, and just to remind you this fund is not only for this product but for the entire offerings of the organization.
CFO: Ok, what Else
CMO: Next is we will introduce a experience and Passionate SEO company India which will do the key word research, analysis, and competition analysis for us, so that we choose the best key words for our business and introduce the same on our web content and in codes while designing the web site. SEO will be an ongoing process and will cost us around 30 to 40 thousand a month.
CEO: What is SEO?
CMO: Oh I am sorry, it is Search Engine Optimization, which ensures when people search the key words associated to your products and services you rank at the top of search engines.
CEO: Ok. Please go ahead.
CMO: Once the Web site Redesign is done we start the SEO immediately, and simultaneously we will start another Online Marketing initiative which is called SMO (social media optimization) it will cover the major social media channels which will be frequently visited by our target customers.
CFO: How much will it cost us?
CMO: it will cost us around 40,000 per month. And there are other plans as well which include video marketing etc, but that is the next level we start with a lighter plan and then gradually move to the platinum plan.
CEO: that Sounds good to me, what will it work?
CMO: Yes it will.
CFO: Only the Returns on the Investments can share about it.
CMO: Yes but it will take 6 months to show the result, and I am sure that by the end of one year it will yield results equivalent to the traditional marketing that we were following.
CFO: You mean to say 10% return
CMO: No Net margin of 4 lac on this investment, with revenue of 2.2 cr, and a yearly investment of approx 14 lac, which makes the Return of 28%.
CFO: That sounds impressive to me, hope we achieve it.
CEO: yes that is a great plan, I thing we are in agreement to it, and let us start it.
This way the CMO, has shared is plan and initiated on the online marketing initiative, with the help of best SEO company in India.
Conclusion: Web Presence and Online Marketing are no more a requirement but a necessity.
